Inside the project

Keep your agents on track.

Via Talk is a Codex CLI plugin for spoken conversations with your codebase. Put your feet up and ask an agent to read a file, walk you through an edit or tell you when its tests finish. Step away from the screen and listen as it works. When you hear something that needs correcting, hold Space and say so.

01 / The challenge

The important words are easy to miss.

With agents working across several terminals, the explanations pile up. Reading them all takes attention away from the work. A few words can hide a wrong assumption or unnecessary complexity; miss them and the agent keeps going. Via Talk grew out of the need to hear those decisions and correct them before they waste time and tokens.

02 / The approach

Make supervision a conversation.

Developers can keep working in their terminal while listening to Codex explain its decisions. They can dictate a reply, check the text and send it when ready. Via Talk uses Windows speech tools, so listening and dictating add no model token cost. When several agents are working, their replies play one at a time.

Using the application

What people can do.

01

Hear each edit

Normal mode reads completed replies, plans and questions. Talk Loud also reads progress updates. Ask Codex to explain each edit when you want to follow the work closely.

02

Dictate without a rewrite

Hold Space to open Windows Voice Typing, speak, then press Enter to send. No extra language model rephrases your prompt. Shift+Enter lets you keep editing before you submit.

03

A voice for each session

Choose from your installed Windows voices and give each session a different one. Set the pace and volume to suit the way you listen.

04

Follow several agents without overlapping voices

Agents can work in parallel while you hear their replies one at a time. Double-tap Space to pause or resume; triple-tap to skip the current item.

05

Read files aloud

Have Via Talk read a complete text file to you. Listen to a plan or project notes, then talk through your questions with the agent that knows the codebase.

06

Code explanations you can listen to

Via Talk makes Markdown and file paths easier to hear, with pauses and natural breaks in long responses. Narration uses the voices installed on your Windows machine.
